Bats in the Belfry is a Los Angeles-based rock 'n' roll band formed in September 2024 following the passing of The Generators frontman Doug Kane. Rather than continue under the Generators name without one of its defining voices, founding guitarist and songwriter Eric Anthony (Doosky) chose to begin a new chapter—one that honors Doug's legacy while preserving the integrity of everything The Generators built together.
Joined by longtime Generators bassist Ted Hahn, drummer Marco Duarte, and guitarist ANT, Bats in the Belfry quickly found its identity, writing thirteen original songs before entering the studio to record their debut album, Living Reality (Release date TBD)
In May 2025, the band released its debut single, "Chaos Reigns" backed with "Death Thrives on Misery," and then the single "Love" in August 2025, both offering a glimpse into a sound that is both familiar and unmistakably its own.
Built on decades of songwriting, touring, and recording experience, Bats in the Belfry carries forward the spirit of the Los Angeles punk rock underground while expanding beyond its boundaries. Their music blends driving punk rock energy with darker melodic textures, drawing inspiration from bands such as The Damned, T.S.O.L., Killing Joke, Lords of the New Church, Bad Religion, Christian Death, and The Generators.
The result is music that is urgent, emotional, and atmospheric—songs rooted in loss, resilience, self-discovery, and the search for meaning in an increasingly fractured world.
More than simply continuing a legacy, Bats in the Belfry represents a new creative chapter. It's a band built on experience without being trapped by nostalgia, committed to writing honest music that connects with outsiders, survivors, dreamers, and anyone who still believes rock 'n' roll should have something real to say.
